With snorkel gear in hand, you’ll explore the shallow waters and search for scallops hiding among the seagrass beds.
Crystal River is one of the few places in the world where you can harvest them yourself. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to catch your own scallops – simply dive down and pick them up!
Scallop Season 2023 is just around the corner! Citrus County is scheduled to open on July 1st and run through September 24th.
Bird’s Underwater Dive Center is located in the heart of Citrus County, and looks forward to taking our guests to enjoy one of Florida’s favorite summer time activities! Join us as we travel along Florida’s beautiful Nature Coast, on our way to search the lush grass beds for Florida bay scallops! Bird’s Underwater will have two six passenger boats available this summer, and will include the following on our tours:
- USCG Captain and Vessel
- Florida Saltwater Fishing license for the vessel
- Cooler with ice for bay scallops
- Cooler with ice and water
- Snorkeling gear
- Scallop bags and cleaning supplies
- Sunscreen/upf shirt(we sell at the shop)
- Towel
- Lunch
- Small cooler to bring home your catch
